Former Union Minister Tarakeswari Sinha dead
New Delhi, Aug 17 (UNI) Former Union Minister Tarakeswari Sinha died in the capital following a heart attack, her family said today.
The octogenarian died on Tuesday, they said. She is survived by two sons and as many daughters.
Born on December 26, 1926, Ms Sinha was first elected from Patna East constituency as an MP in 1952 and was the youngest to make it to Parliament, in those days.
She was subsequently elected to the Lok Sabha five times till 1971 and also served as the Deputy Finance Minister in the Jawaharlal Nehru and Lal Bahadur Shastri cabinets.
She was also a member of the Congress Working Committee.
