Sirsa, Aug 17 (UNI) The Punjab police today interrogated Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmit Ram Rahim Singh in connection with a case against him for hurting Sikh religious sentiments and seized the controversial dress, resembling the attire of Guru Gobind Singh, worn by him during a baptisation ceremony.

The pink robe along with a headgear with a plume, similar to the attire of the tenth Sikh Guru, was recovered from the Dera by the Punjab Police team that interrogated him for over three hours in the Dera premises.

The dress was worn by him during a baptisation ceremony in Salabatpura in Bathinda district of Punjab on May 13, following which Sikh organisations accused him of imitating the tenth Guru.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Surinder Pal Singh, leader of the 16-member police team, told reporters after the interrogation that Singh participated in the investigation process but did not divulge much.

The police seized the controversial dress recovered from the Dera.

The DSP said a Punjab Police team would visit the Dera again on August 24 for further questioning.

Today was the second time that the Dera chief had been questioned by the Punjab police in the case. He was earlier questioned by the police on July 30 when he was arrested and granted bail immediately on the Dera premises.

The Punjab and Haryana High Court had directed the Dera chief to cooperate with the police in the investigation.
