AAPSU demands proper policy to check infiltration
Itanagar, Aug 17 (UNI) The All Arunachal Pradesh Students' Union (AAPSU) has demanded proper policy to stop the unabated infiltration of Bangladeshi settlers into the state.
In a letter to the chief minister, the AAPSU has urged the state government to ensure strict checking of the Inner Line Permits (ILPs) at all the check gates.
''The AAPSU had successfully carried out Operation Clean Drive recently in Papum Pare and East Siang districts. However, many Bangladeshi nationals, who were deported during the operation, have returned as the government failed to initiate strict checking of ILPs and Restricted Area Permits (RAPs),'' the letter stated.
The AAPSU also urged the chief minister to convene a meeting of all deputy commissioners immediately to seek their suggestions in implementing ILPs and RAPs effectively.
The union appealed to the state government to erect permanent check gates at all entry points besides preventing illegal migrants from acquiring ILPs.
It also urged all political leaders, business communities and other organisations, who had engaged Bangladeshis in any form of services, to release them voluntarily for the ''greater interest of the state.'' UNI UPB DPM RC BST1206
