US lawmaker nominates Sri Sri Ravi Shankar for Nobel Peace Prize

Washington, Aug 15 (UNI) US Congressman Joseph Crowley has nominated spiritual and humanitarian leader Sri Sri Ravi Shankar for the Nobel Peace Prize.

Former co-chairman of the Congressional Caucus on India and Indian Americans in a statement said last night, ''Sri Sri Ravi Shankar's commitment to helping those who may not help themselves is striking. He sets an example of goodwill for all of us, showing people around the world the value of service and devotion to a good cause and I believe he should be considered for the Nobel Peace Prize.'' ''I am honoured to forward his name to the judges in Oslo and Norway to be considered for this prestigious award that celebrates humanity.'' This is the second year in a row that Congressman Crowley, a Democrat from New york, has nominated Sri Sri Ravi Shankar for the award.

Congressman Crowley has met Shankar and admires his work to spread the message of peace.
