'Indian House' project to be inaugurated in Moscow tomorrow
Moscow, Aug 15 (UNI) The groundbreaking ceremony for the 'Indian House' -- a microsm of Indian culture showcasing one of the country's ethnic and cultural regions -- will be held tomorrow.
The project, a part of the 84-hectare Ethnomir Complex, involves building of centres of 52 different ethnic and cultural regions, in a designated site, 90 kilometers west of the Russian capital.
''The Indian House will be a miniature India inside Russia,'' Dialog of Cultures-United World Fund president Ruslan Bairamov said, quipping ''Russians will have a chance to immerse themselves in Indian culture without leaving Russia''.
The Centre, conceived by architect Koushal Choudhry, includes eight rooms including an exhibition hall, a yoga class, an ayurvedic medicine room, an Indian restaurant and a guest house -- each depicting one of the country's ethnic and cultural regions. It follows the model of Auroville in Puducherry as a universal ''cultural township'' and a site for dialogue and the synthesis of cultures.
The materials for the interior would be brought in from India and the project is supposed to be completed by 2009 -- declared ''The Year of India in Russia.'' UNI
