Boy attempts suicide during I-Day function

Mysore, Aug 15 (UNI) A 14-year-old school boy tried to end his life ''as a sacrifice to the nation'' during an Independence Day function here today.

As soon as the Minister for Cooperation G T Deve Gowda, who is also District In-charge Minister, finished his address after hoisting the Tricolour, Srikanth, an eighth standard student of J S S School, wielding a knife announced that he would end his life as a ''sacrifice to the nation.'' However, police thwarted the attempt and took away the knife.
