Air Deccan links Kolkata with Jamshedpur

Bangalore, Aug 15: Low cost carrier Air Deccan today announced the launch of daily flights to Jamshedpur from Kolkata from August 26 by deploying a 48-seater ATR for theroute, the bookings for which will open tomorrow.

Meant to be a tribute to pioneering Indian industrialist JRD Tata, Deccan Aviation Executive Chairman G R Gopinath said ''the exemplary legacy of innovation, growth and nation building bequeathed to us by JRD Tata has inspired generations of Indian entrepreneurs and professionals.'' The history of Jamshedpur is the history of India's industrial growth but ironically the city remained unconnected by air, he added.

According to the flight schedule, the ATR would take off from Kolkata at 1445 hrs and reach Jamshedpur at 1545 hrs. On the outbound flight, the aircraft would take off at 1600 hrs from Jamshedpur and arrive at Kolkata at 1700 hrs.
