Woman announces to commit 'sati'

Mahoba, Aug 14 (UNI) Panic prevailed in Kulpahar area of the district today after a woman announced to commit 'sati' on the fureral pyre of her husband.

Sukhrani, wife of a farmer Jhagdu, declared she would commit 'sati'.

After the announcement, hundreds of people gathered on the place to witness the event.

However, the crime was averted as Sukhrani's son witfully locked her in a room before performing the last rites of his father.

Police are investigating the matter.
