Van Halen announces tour dates

Mumbai, Aug 14 (UNI) For lovers of rock here, it should come as manna from heaven. Legendary rock band Van Halen announced their long- awaited tour dates at Los Angeles on yesterday.

Fronting the band will be original singer David Lee Roth, considered one of the finest performers in rock n' roll. He will handle the vocal duties after two decades, after an acrimonious split in 1985, stated a release.

''We're getting along better than we ever have,'' said Edward Van Halen, guitarist and leader of the band.

''We think, we got it right this time,'' added David Lee Roth.

The band's tour will start from September 27 and fold up on December 11.

Van Halen was formed in 1974 and has been one of the world's most influential and best selling acts throughout the 80s' and 90s'. Lead by Edward Van Halen, the band has sold over 80 million albums worlwide inculding two Diamond albums which have sold over 10 million copies each.

They were also inducted into the Rock n'Roll Hall of Fame in March.
