Vaiko appears before court in defamation case
Chennai, Aug 14 (UNI) MDMK General Secretary Vaiko today appeared before a Magistrate court in connection with a defamation case filed against him by DMK Treasurer and Electricity Minister Arcot N Veerasamy.
When the case came up for hearing before Egmore Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Rajagopalan, Mr Vaiko appeared as per the court's directive.
Later, the Magistrate adjourned the case to September 7 for trial, with a directive that both Mr Vaiko and the petitioner, Mr Veerasamy should be present at the court on that day.
The case was filed by Mr Veerasamy in the wake of Mr Vaiko's outbursts against Chief Minister and DMK President M Karunanidhi following the senior leaders, former Union Minister Gingee N Ramachandran and Party Presidium Chairman L Ganesan quitting the party.
