UP Governor inaugrates philatelic exhibition
Lucknow, Aug 14 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh Governor T V Rajeswar today inaugrated the Philatelic Exhibition PEX-2007 '60 Years of Freedom' at GPO here.
Noting the importance of Post and Telegraph department in the progress of the country, the governor said ''more post offices are needed even today in remote villages.'' The postal department should adopt more modern techniques such as franking machine and self-adhesives stamps, he suggested.
Mr Rajeswar said collecting stamps was a good hobby and also quite educative.
The function was also attended by Chief Post Master General Neelam Srivastva and Abha Singh, Director Social Service.
Other senior officials of postal department, school children and freedom fighters were also present on the occasion.
