Tekanpur, MP, Aug 14 (UNI) BSF Academy Director S C Vaidya today said that two battalions of the Force had been specially trained to combat disasters.

''One is stationed at Kolkata and the other at Guwahati. The former specialises in tackling nuclear and biological calamities while the latter is trained against floods and storms. Both are equipped with ultramodern equipment'' he told mediapersons before the inauguration of an exhibition of modern weaponry and surveillance equipment.

Pointing out that the BSF provided high-level training to personnel of Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Goa Police, the officer added that personnel from Afghanistan, Nepal and The Maldives also benefited similarly.

''Rocket-launchers, grenade-launchers and anti-material rifles are among weapons included in the BSF. The laser range finder, global positioning system and battlefield surveillance radar are among the equipment incorporated while the improvised explosive device disposal kit is being included and jammers being put up,'' Mr Vaidya said.
