Turnover crashes by 2.74 pc on MCX in first session
Mumbai, Augt 14 (UNI) The turnover on Multi-Commodity Exchange (MCX) of India at end of the first session today was Rs 3,195.65 crore, down 2.74 per cent with trades numbering 64,259.
MCX Comdex--the composite index of metals, energy and agri sub-indices--was up 0.04 pc at 2154.18 points. MCX Metal Index gained 0.06 pc at 2460.61 points, MCX Energy Index was up 0.2 pc at 2255.84 points while MCX Agri Index lost 0.4 per cent to close at 1768.85 points, the release issued by MCX said.
Bullion turnover was Rs 690.84 crore, of which gold contracts accounted for Rs 411.53 crore and silver contracts Rs 279.31crore.
Gold contract volumes were 4630 kgs and open interest (OI) 10,382kgs while silver volumes were 160,075 kgs and OI 480,010 kgs. Gold contracts, including gold mini, shed between Rs 9 and 21 per 10 gms.
Gold October 07 contract was down 0.1 pc at Rs 8883 per 10 gms.
Silver contracts, including silver mini, fell between Rs 43 and 72 per kg. The September contract was down 0.27 pc at Rs 17,408 per kg.
In the base metals segment, copper contracts turnover was Rs 745.57 crore.Volumes were 24,252,000 kgs and OI 14,213,000 kgs.
Copper contracts were up between Re 0.15 and 2.10 per kg, with the August delivery contract up 0.07 pc at Rs 307.85 per kg.Turnover of all zinc contracts was Rs 398.11 crore with volume of 28,655 tonnes and OI of 38,760 tonnes. Zinc contracts gained between Re 0.95 and 1.10 per kg. Zinc August contract was up 0.8 pc at Rs 139.30 per kg.Turnover of all nickel contracts was Rs 330.8 crore with volume of 2,915,750 kg and OI of 2,296,500 kg. Nickel contracts traded up between Rs 23.6 and 27.1 with the August delivery contract up 2.11 pc at Rs 1140.8 per kg. Turnover of all aluminium contracts was Rs 6.13 crore with volume of 584 tonnes and OI of 3612 tonnes.
Aluminium August contract was up 0.1 pc at Rs 104.80 per kg. Lead contracts turnover was Rs 351.99 crore with volume of 28,035 tonnes and OI of 9,425 tonnes. Lead for August delivery was up 2.14 per cent at Rs 126.6 per kg.
In the energy segment, crude oil contracts clocked a turnover of Rs 379.5 crore. Volumes were 1,302,300 barrels and OI 939,500 barrels. Crude oil August contract was up 0.24% at Rs 2931 per barrel.Natural gas turnover across all contracts was Rs 25.26 crore with volume of 900,000 mmBTU and OI of 2,146,500 mmBTU. Natural gas contract for August delivery was down 0.04 pc at Rs 278.4 per mmBTU.
Among agri commodities, refined soya oil contracts clocked a turnover of Rs 131.62 crore with volume of 26,710 tonnes and OI of 37,980 tonnes. Soya oil for August delivery was down 0.33 pc at Rs 492.55 per 10 kg.Guarseed contracts turnover was Rs 1.3 crore with volume of 710 tonnes and OI of 3,380 tonnes. Guarseed August was up 0.28 pc at Rs 1804 per quintal. Potato (Agra and Tarkeshwar) witnessed a turnover of Rs 43.81 crore with volume of 66,780 tonnes and OI of 81,120 tonnes. Potato Agra August gained 0.2 pc at Rs 654.4 per quintal while potato Tarkeshwar August was up 0.39 pc at Rs 670.8/quintal.Mentha oil contracts witnessed a turnover of Rs 21.51 crore with volume of 397 tonnes and OI of 1,014 tonnes. Mentha oil for August delivery was up 0.88 pc at Rs 538.30 per kg. Channa contracts clocked a turnover of Rs 3.56 crore, volume of 1,520 tonnes and OI of 4,020 tonnes. Chana for August delivery was up 0.04 pc at Rs 2297 per quintal.Kapas khalli turnover was Rs 2.2 crore, volume 3,040 tonnes and OI of 12,585 tonnes. Kapaskhali for August delivery was down 0.3 pc at Rs 364.8 per 50 kg.Cardamom contracts clocked a turnover of Rs 23.85 crore, volume of 431 tonnes and OI of 414 tonnes. Cardamom August fell 1.21 per cent to Rs 523.5 per kg.
Jute contracts clocked a turnover of Rs 12.44 crore, volume of 8990 tonnes and OI of 6210 tonnes. Jute August contract was down 1.45 pc at Rs 1361.5 per quintal. Robusta coffee turnover was Rs 2.67 crore with volume of 347 tonnes and OI of 489 tonnes. Robusta for August delivery was up 0.29 per cent at Rs 7662 per quintal. Soyabean turnover was Rs 3.08 crore, volume 19,600 tonnes and OI 19,800 tonnes. The August contract was down 0.06 pc at Rs 1586 per quintal.
