Small fire in Parliament House creates flutter

New Delhi, Aug 14 (UNI) Timely detection of smoke inside a room close to the Central Hall of Parliament averted an accident today.

The fire broke out in a shaft near room no 1A, which houses the Deputy Speaker's chamber, while the Lok Sabha was in session.

It was due to a short circuit, Fire Service department sources said.

The Fire Service was alerted at 1546 hrs and three fire tenders were pressed into service. It took less than ten minutes to douse the flame.

Fancy bulbs were being put up for decoration of the Parliament building on the eve of the Independence Day when the fire broke out due to the short circuit.
