Silver opens softer on weak global advice

Mumbai, Aug 14: Spot silver today opened softer by Rs 30 at Rs 17,790 per kg from its last close due to bearish advice from global markets, however, spot gold resumed flat on moderate ornament makers demand, traders at the Bombay Bullion Association said.

Trading in the bullion market will remain officially closed tomorrow on account of the 61st Independence Day, traders added.

Following are the opening rates of spot silver and gold: Silver (per kg) .999 fineness grade: Rs 17,790, Gold (per 10 gm): Gold 99.5 purity standard mint : Rs 8,845, Gold 99.9 purity pure Gold : Rs 8,895.
