Security in border areas beefed up

Kishanganj, Aug 14 (UNI) In the wake of the mass killings of Hindi-speaking people at the hands of the ULFA and KLNLF volunteers and bigots, on the eve of Independence day security has sufficiently been beefed up across Kishanganj district hedged by Nepal.

Vigilance on the trains has also been spruced up at Kishanganj railway station, it being the terminal and entry point of Bihar.

Kishanganj District Magistrate M Saravanan told newsmen here today that all the border police stations have been asked to maximise the security steps and keep a constant watch on the movement of the people.

Meanwhile, police has been alerted on both sides of Bihar-West Bengal border following recovery of four bombs by the side of the railway track near Rampur, 6 km from Kishanganj but under Chakulia police station in West Bengal.

Kishanganj superintendent of police Sunil Kumar Sinha told UNI here that the town police as well as the Government Railway Police (GRP) had been asked to keep a tab on the movement of the people on the railway platforms and also to frisk passengers on the trains if necessary.

Meanwhile, the central paramilitary forces and Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) were deployed along 114 km long Bihar-Nepal border in the district in the wake of reports about dumping of fire-arms by the ultras and anti-national forces in areas from across the border.
