Sacha Sauda 'Nam Charcha' for tomorrow cancelled

Hoshiarpur, Aug 14 (UNI) Keeping in view the Independence Day celebrations, organisers of the local branch of the Dera Sacha Sauda cancelled their proposed 'Nam Charcha' (religious congregation) to be held tomorrow at the Dera at Banjer Bagh here.

According to Mr Chanan Ram, incharge of the Dera, the organisers had proposed to arrange the congregation as per the ritual of the Dera on August 15. The district administration had persuaded them to cancel it so as to avoid any confrontation with Sikh organisations.

Meanwhile, a depuation of the All India Sikh Students Federation led by president Karnail Singh Peer Mohmad met Deputy Commissioner D K Tiwari and presented him a memorandum to demand a ban on tomorrow's congregation.

SSP Anita Punj when contacted said though the organisers had cancelled the proposed congregation, security at the Dera had been tightened to avert any unfortunate incident.
