Preperations on for by-election in UP

Farrukhabad, Aug 14 (UNI) Preperations are on in full swing for the peaceful conduct of the August 31 by-election to the Farrukhabad Assembly constituency.

The seat fell vaccant after Samajwadi Party (SP) MLA Vijay Singh resigned.

''The entire Assembly segment had been divided into six zones and 27 sectors,'' district election officer and DM K Ram Mohan Rao said here today.

Sixteen candidates are contesting the by-election and almost three lakh voters would exercise their franchise.

Almost 74 and 138 poll centres had been identified as sensitive and very sensitive respectively.

A three-member committee had also been set up to oversee code of conduct violation.

Besides, the by-election for the Farrukhabad Assembly segment would be held comtemporaneously with the Gunnaur and Swartanda counstituencies.

UNI
