New Delhi, Aug 14 (UNI) In an attempt to break the logjam between the UPA and the Left parties over the nuclear deal, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh this morning met with CPI(M) General Secretary Prakash Karat.

The Communist leader told Dr Singh at the breakfast meeting that he would put forward the PM's viewpoint before the CPI(M) Polit bureau meet on August 17-18.

The Prime Minister told Mr Karat that the differences could be resolved through a dialogue.

Dr Sanjaya Baru, Media Advisor to the Prime Minister told mediapersons later that the Left leader had ''apprehensions'' over certain provisions of the pact, which, he felt, could be sorted out.

The dialogue process between the UPA and the Left was set in motion yesterday when CPI(M) Polit bureau member Sitaram Yechury met Dr Singh and External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee to find a way out to end the stand off.

Sources told UNI the meeting was held in response to Dr Singh's desire in this regard.
