'Hind Pak Dosti Mela' in Wagah
Wagah, Aug 14: A high-level delegation from Pakistan, including leading legislators and eminent journalists, has arrived here to participate in the "Hind Pak Dosti Mela" that has been organised to mark the 60th year of independence of both countries.
The celebration will begin on the intervening night of August 15 here.
The Pakistani delegates, who were received by the Indian chapter of the SAFMA, expressed optimism that peace would prevail between two countries one day with their efforts.
Imtiyaz Alam, leader of the delegation, said that they have brought message of peace and prosperity, and added that there was need to focus on the real issues of the two countries to uplift the lives of common men.
Stating that common men of two nations could force their governments to change policies, Member of the National Assembly of Pakistan's People's Party, Beelam Eisnain, said that the purpose of their visit was to increase more people to people contact between the two countries.
Sheikh Abdul Wahid, another delegate, stressed on stronger bilateral economic relations that could forge permanent peace.
"Only prosperity in two nations could bring them closer in the era of globalisation" he added.
The delegation will be returning back to Pakistan on August 16.
