Gujrat based quack arrested in Punjab

Moga, Aug 14 (UNI) Police had arrested a Gujrat based quack on alleged charges of duping people on behalf of a bogus foundation here yesterday, police said today.

According to the police, Ajay Kumar, a resident of Rajgarh in Gujrat, and his unidentified associate used to dupe people under the garb of expert in treatment of HIV and Typhoid patients on behalf of a bogus foundation named 'Manav Vikas Jyoti Foundation' of Gujrat.

His another associate managed to escape, the police said.

Police investigations revealed that the duo after cheating the people of Gujrat, started their business in Punjab. After duping innocent people of Amritsar, Jalandhar and Ludhiana they arrived at Moga few days back and started contacting people suffering from HIV and Typhoid and collected huge money from them to hold camps where they gave injections and medicines. After collecting huge money they used to select another town, the police said.

Police had recovered about 500 cards from his possession in names of HIV and Typhoid patients, from whom this two-member gang has collected huge money.

Police had registered a case under sections 420 and 120B of the IPC against the quack and his associate.
