Gravity pipeline breakdown affects water supply in HP
Mandi, Aug 14 (UNI) Major parts of Mandi town are reeling under water famine in the wake of breakdown of Maigal-Mandi gravity pipeline following incessant heavy rain over the past three days.
Another pipe line lifting water to Tarna Hill tanks has also been disrupted due to heavy landslide near PWD rest house, further worsening the water supply network of the town.
According to IPH sources the water pipeline has been broken up at three points due to landslides.
Mr D K Gupta, Chief Engineer IPH, said that all efforts were being made to restore the water supply at the earliest.
The worst hit areas are Purani Mandi, upper and lower Bhiuli colonies. Cluster of houses on the right bank of Beas, Jawaharnagar is also facing acute water scarcity despite some supply of water from Bijni gravity line.
