Farmer commits suicide in Gulbarga district

Gulbarga, Aug 14 (UNI) Unable to bear the burden of debt, a farmer committed suicide by consuming pesticide at Venkatapur village in Chincholi taluk in the district.

According to police sources, the deceased, Lakshman Gangapur(58), took the extreme step after failing to repay the debt following crop failure.

He had reportedly borrowed money from local money lenders and invested in agriculture.

The farmer was battling for life at the Government General Hospital here before breathing his last today.
