BPL list rectified in Kishananj

Kishanganj,Aug 14 (UNI) The border district of Kishanganj has emerged as the first district from amongst the 38 in Bihar to complete the process of finalising and publishing the Below the Poverty Line list (BPL).

Kishanganj District Magistrate M Saravanan, told newsmen here that the district, as mandated, had already submitted the compact disk (CD).He asserted that the BPL list was almost fool-proof.

The DM said in all 4,00,974 families from across the district had finally been inducted into the BPL list which would entitle them to avail the benefit of the slew of measures targetted at poverty alleviation.

Earlier,there were 4,08,205 BPL families in the list.

Giving details, the DM said not only the guidelines provided by the state Chief Secretary (CS) had been adhered to, but a 10-member committee, appointed in consonance with the government's directive, had made a thorough door-to-door check of the BPL families from across seven blocks in the district.

After the strict verification and spot enquiries while 62,774 families were deleted on the grounds of double entries and pile of objections against them, 55,545 families were enrolled fresh.
