Lucknow, Aug 14 (UNI) Accusing the Mayawati government in Uttar Pradesh of being insensitive towards farmers' woes in the wake of floods in eastern parts of the state, the BJP today demanded Governor T V Rajeswar's intervention in this regard.

''The relief measures in almost all the flood-affected areas are far below required parametres -farmers being the worst hit,'' BJP legislator party leader Om Prakash Singh told newspersons here this afternoon.

Earlier, a BJP delegation led by party's state president Kesari Nath Tripathi met the Goevnor ad handed over a momorandum urging him to make a visit to flood-hit areas and expedite the relief and rescue measures.

The BJP in its memorandum demanded, the government should immedietely decalre the several eastern UP districts comprising Kushinagar, Maharajganj, Gorakhpur, Sant Kabirnagar and Siddhartnagar as flood-hit and suspend the revenue collection from the effected farmers.

It also demanded that the irrigation charges should be exempted and free seeds and fertilizers should be made available to the farmers in view of the coming Rabi crop.

BJP also blamed the UP government for being callous towards the health conditions in the flood affecetd areas where there was an imminent danger of various diseases being spread.
