4 held for human sacrifice

Hardoi, Aug 14 (UNI) Police have arrested four people, including the mother of a girl, who was allegedly sacrificed by them in Pihani area here on Thursday.

The arrests were made yesterday, police today said.

The girl's charred body stuffed inside a bag was recovered from the residence of Girja Dayal at Naugavan village.

It was learnt that Girija and his wife Reshma had sacrificed their 12-year-old daughter Neerja on the directions of a 'tantrik' Chotelal.

After offerring the 'bali' (sacrifice), Chotelal performed a 'havan' in which pieces of the girl's corpse were also used.

Girija and Reshma had two daughters and desperately wanted a son.

Police arrested Reshma, her two relatives and Chotelal and hunt was on to nab Girija, Birla and one of their aides.
