15 more granted bail in bomb blasts case
Coimbatore, Aug 14 (UNI) The Bomb Blasts Special Court Judge K Uthirapathy today granted bail to 15 more accused, who were arrested in the serial bomb blasts case, which rocked the city on February 14, 1998.
The Judge granted bail to 15 accused after examining 21 bail applications taken for inquiry today. The Judge posted the inquiry of six bail application for August 16.
All the accused, who were granted bail, were involved in the case with minor charges and they might get less than ten-years punishment. So far 84 accused were given bail out of the total 158.
As many as 58 persons were killed and about 250 injured in 19 bomb explosions in the city on February 14, 1998. The bombs were timed to coincide with the visit of BJP leader L K Advani in connection with an election campaign. The damage to property in the blasts was estimated at Rs 4.37 crore.
