Seven schoolboys killed in accident in Bangladesh
Dhaka, Aug 13 (UNI) Seven school students and two pedestrians were killed when a bus crashed into an auto-rickshaw on the Dhaka-Chittagong highway in southeastern Bangladesh today.
Police said six other people were also wounded in the accident in front of a temple at Sitakunda in Chittagong district.
Officer-in-Charge of Sitakunda police station Abdus Salam said a passenger bus rammed into an auto-rickshaw carrying ten schoolboys of Masjidda High School at about 0730 hrs, amid heavy rain, reducing the auto into a wreckage.
The accident triggered angry protests as local people, teachers and students blamed weak traffic management and reckless driving for such tragic accidents.
After the accident, an agitated mob set fire to the killer bus and also barricaded the road for two hours. Police rushed to the spot but failed to pacify the protestors.
On information, army troops moved in and removed the barricades to clear the busy route for traffic.
