Rupee opens flat 40.62/64 per dollar

Mumbai, Aug 13: Rupee opened nearly flat at 40.62/64 per dollar as compared to the previous close of 40.64 per dollar, with the market witnessing a dull trading session in morning.

The depreciated Rupee is considered to be the reflection of the general slow-down across the global markets.

According to sources, the ripples of the so-called US sub prime crisis has, well, reached the Indian markets also, leaving the foreign investors more cautious about the market movements.

''Forex market was almost silent in the first half of the day and the Rupeee is expected to close nearly around 40.55-65 per dollar in evening,'' said a dealer.

Rupee touched an intra-day high of 40.53 per dollar by noon and is currently trading a bit lower at 40.57/58.
