Passenger ferry, ship collide off Istanbul
ISTANBUL, Aug 13 (Reuters) Forty people were injured when a passenger ferry and a Ukrainian cargo ship collided in the sea off Istanbul today, state news agency Anatolian said.
A Turkish television station had previously reported the cargo ship was Russian.
Coastguard Deputy General Manager Faruk Yarsel told Reuters the accident did not affect traffic on the Bosphorus Strait, a major shipping route used by international oil tankers.
No one was killed, said Yarsel, and Anatolian said there were no serious injuries.
After the crash, in the Marmara Sea to the south of Istanbul, the passenger ferry made it back to the dock and all passengers were evacuated from the vessel, Yarsel said.
