Chandy demands inquiry into attack on mediapersons

Kottayam, Aug 13 (UNI) Leader of the Opposition in the Kerala Assembly Oommen Chandy today demanded an inquiry into the attack on mediapersons and the Press Club during the Minority Rights Protection rally here last evening.

Five mediapersons sustained injuries and glass panes of the Press Club were damaged in the stone pelting.

Talking to reporters here, Mr Chandy described the incident as ''unfortunate'' and said an inquiry in addition to a police case was necessary to contain similar incidents in the future.

Asked about the report on the Nationalist Congress Party joining the United Democratic Front, he said there was no such agenda before the UDF. The NCP President K Karunakaran had also stated that, he pointed out.
