Wildlife officials to review programmes

New Delhi, Aug 12 (UNI) The National Wildlife Crime Control Bureau (WCCB) will meet here tomorrow to review its programmes and discuss the structure of regional offices along with their jurisdiction.

The details of duties and powers of officers at these centres, staff pattern and the process of filling of various posts will also be discussed.

Defence personnel and para-military forces would be initially posted in tiger reserves only.

Regional Directors from Delhi, Kolkata, Chennai and Mumbai and senior officials of the Ministry will attend the meeting.

The WCCB was created after Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, as head of the National Board for Wildlife, decided to set up a bureau on the lines of the Narcotics Control Bureau to stop assaults on wildlife and forests wealth.
