Unique honesty lesson in Chhattisgarh's schools

Jagdalpur, Chhattisgarh, Aug 12 (UNI) 'Imandari Ki Dukaan' (Shop of Honesty) is an unique initiative launched in every school of Bastar district by the panchayat for teaching children the lesson of honesty.

Boxes -- containing education material such as multiplication tables, notebooks, slate, pencils, pens, sharpeners and rubbers -- have been placed in each school. The students themselves take out the stuff they require and place money in the boxes that have costs written on them.

''This is part of an attempt to make the future generation honest citizens. Under a 'khoya paya' (lost and found) campaign, kids place such objects in a box where the child concerned finds what he lost,'' panchayat CEO R Prasanna said here yesterday.
