TTD denies fund misappropriation on 'Kalyanamastu'
Tirupati, Aug 12 (UNI) Denying reports that the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams' (TTD) funds were ''misused'' in the mass marriage, TTD Trust Board Chairman B Karunkara Reddy today said he was not using the 'Kalyanamastu' programme for gaining a political mileage.
He said all party representatives had been participating in the 'Kalyanamastu' awareness campaigns, at various places in the state for the second phase of the mass marriage programme to be held on August 26.
Addressing a press conference here, he said the TTD had taken up 'Dalita Govindam' and 'Kalyanamsthu' programmes to promote social equality, harmony, and human values and no political intention was behind it.
The expenditure for each couple in the ceremony would be about Rs 7,000 as against Rs 6,000 during the first phase.
The registration for the second phase 'Kalyanamastu' was still on. Cellar tickets would be provided for new couples and their parents for Sri Vari Darsan, he added.
