Taslima should work with courage: Medha

Barwani, MP, Aug 12 (UNI) Narmada Bachao Andolan (NBA) leader Medha Patkar today criticised attack on controversial writer Taslima by an unruly crowd in Hyderabad recently.

Talking to UNI over telephone, Ms Patkar described the attack as fundamentalist mentality of some people and said everybody had the right to express their personal opinion.

She said Taslima should work with courage, as she had been doing earlier while facing opposition in Bangladesh and other countries.

Ms Patkar said hue and cry over Taslima's writings was unnecessary.

She added that Taslima's opposition should not be considered as opposition by the whole country. It was an attack by some people.

Taslima was attacked by some activists, including three MLAs of the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen or MIM, when was there for the release of the telugu version of her book 'Sokhe' at the press club in the Andhra Pradesh capital.
