Six killed, six injured in Kashmir

Srinagar, Aug 12 (UNI) Six people were killed and an equal number injured in seperate accidents in Kashmir, a police spokesman said today.

Three of them were killed in a road accident while one drowned in a river, another died in a landslide and a labourer fell to his death while painting a house and six were injured in the Kashmir valley, the spokesman said.

He said eight people were injured when a truck in which they were travelling met with an accident at Dardpora in the frontier district of Kupwara. But two of them (Bashir Ahmad Dar and Bahir Ahmad Bhat) died in a hospital, taking the death toll up to six.

A motorcyclist hit and critically wounded a woman, Shah Mala at Bumhama, Kupwara, near her house. She was shifted to hospital where she died.

One Mohammad Ramzan Wagay drowned in river Jehlum at Sadhnara Ganderbal. His body has been fished out, the spokesman said.

Surinder Gupta, labourer, resident of Bihar, fell off from hight as he was painting a house and died at Gogji Bagh.

Another Shiraz Ahmad War was buried alive under a landslide at village Hardoona, he added.
