Red alert sounded in Dimapur for I-Day
Kohima, Aug 12: Following an intelligence report that some underground outfits from outside the state may disrupt the Independence Day celebration in Dimapur, the district administration has sounded a red alert.
Dimapur Superintendent of Police Bidhu Shekhar had appealed to the general public to be on high alert in all parts of the town.
He further appealed to the people if any explosive substances, Improvised Explosive Devices, abandoned vehicles, suitcases, boxes or any suspicious materials are found, they should inform the police immediately.
The security of the town had already been beefed up with intensified patrolling by Assam Rifles, CRPF and Indian Reserve Battalion to maintain law and order, he stated.
He appealed to the public to co-operate with the security forces in performing their duties in the town.
