Militant plan to cause car blast foiled in Kashmir
Srinagar, Aug 12 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir police claimed to have foiled a militant plan to cause a major blast in north Kashmir when they seized an explosive-laden maruti car at Sopore in Baramulla district today.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Viplay Kumar said after the killing of Harkat-ul-Mujahideen (HuM) District Commander Shaheen Afghani by police on the outskirts of the Sopore town, about 55 km from here today, police conducted massive searches in the area.
During the operation, police recovered a maruti car which was filled with explosives, he said adding the car was to be used on or before August 15.
Mr Kumar said police teams have been rushed to different parts of the north Kashmir to conduct search operations to thwart any militant attempt to cause blasts.
