Congress urges its workers for uplift of weaker section

Ranchi, Aug 12 (UNI) Concerned over the "slow pace" of developmental projects in Jharkhand, Congress state president Pradeep Kumar Balmuchu today exhorted party workers to come forward to uplift the weaker sections of the society.

Addressing the concluding session of the two-day party workshop here, Mr Balmuchu said that the number of welfare schemes were not being properly implemented and therefore workers should directly meet the beneficiaries.

Urging party workers for direct action against the middlemen in National Rural Employement Gurantee Scheme, Mr Balmuchu said that scheme was initiated to benefit the weaker section.

The block level party presidents should come forward to help the disabled and the aged, Mr Balmuchu maintained.

Criticising the erstwhile BJP-led NDA government for rampant corruption, the state congress president said the menace could be checked by forming mobile vigilance teams.

Meanwhile, in-charge of party affairs in Jharkhand Noor Bano, party MLA Manoj Yadav and Saurabh Narain Singh also addressed the workshop attended by about 203 block and 18 district presidents.
