Centre approves Rs 700 cr Road Projects for J and K
Srinagar, Aug 12 (UNI) The Centre has approved pending road projects worth Rs 700 crore for Jammu and Kashmir under NABARD, Minister for Roads and Buildings Gulchain Singh Charak said.
He said the projects include 13 road projects of Kargil district at a cost of Rs 12.72 crores.
Inaugurating Rs 2.99 crore road project from Kargil to Shilikehay- Omachikthang-Hundurman Brog being constructed under PMGSY, he said that the execution of these 13 road projects like Rulpo to Bartoo road, Jungkhor Zansakr, Kharbu-Drass road, Chukiyal road, Stakchay, Lamsudo to Lamsuru road Shargandi-Ichoo road Hongjuk Yulsoom, Gargardoo etc in Kargil district would be started soon as concerned agencies have already started tendering.
Mr Charak directed Chief Engineer Roads and Buildings (Kashmir) to prepare to detailed project report of all the main and link roads of Drass, Kargil and Zanskar constituency so that all of these would be taken up for upgradation.
He said with the sincere efforts of the Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad, the Centre is providing abundant funds for development of infrastructure in every sector.
He said it is our moral duty to utilize these funds judiciously and complete these projects in prescribed time frame.
The Minister was informed that about 30 bridges have been completed in the Kargil district so far to connect the far-off areas of the hilly district and added that number of roads were taken up for up-gradation and black topping would be completed very soon.
He was also told that about 12 schools buildings have been completed till date, besides new casualty Block, Diagnostic Centre and Sub District Hospital, Drass in Kargil district were also completed with a cost of Rs 1.54 crore, Rs 78 lakhs and Rs 8.62 crore respectively.
The world Bank aided polytechnic college was completed except few minor works and would be commissioned this month.
The construction work on the Sub District Hospital, Sankoo is going on smoothly and would be completed at a cost of Rs 8.62 crore by the end of 2008.
