Vasan favours CM's views on Tata project

Coimbatore, Aug 11 (UNI) Minister of State for Statitics and Programme Implementation G K Vasan today said he favoured Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi's remark on the shelved Titanium Dioxide project of Tata.

Talking to reporters here, he welcomed Mr Karunanidhi's decision on constituting a Ministerial Committee on the project to elicit views of the people on the proposed project and said ''I will go by people's verdict on the issue.'' However, he did not want to express his views on the statement made by certain political parties. ''The Centre will take the country's economy, industrial development and issues of people's livelihood into consideration before taking a decision,'' the Minister said.

''I am welcoming the Chief Minister's decision to know the views of the people before implementing the project,'' he said.

Refusing to comment on the remarks of Pattali Makkal Katchi founder S Ramadaoos he said the ''Chief Minister has constituted a Committee and it will give its recommendations''.
