Conf on Automotive Electronics begins Aug 16
Bangalore, Aug 11: Delegates from India and abroad will participate in the three-day International Conference on 'Automotive Electronics and Intelligent Vehicle Initiative' beginning here on August 16.
Former Scientific Advisor to the Ministry of Defence and DRDO Secretary V K Aatre told newspersons here yesterday that though Indian Automobile industry was very old, it had a long way to go in making a mark in the world. India's present Automobile production was only one per cent when compared to that of the US, UK and European countries, he added.
Dr Aatre said the Conference will provide an opportunity for Indian automobile industry to exchange notes and learn more about the Industries. The Small Scale industries, who play a major role by supplying components, can also benefit more from the three-day Conference, he added.
R Mohan of Indian Institute of Science, Department of Instrumentation, said the automotive electronics Industry was estimated at US 86.5 billion dollars and growing at the rate of 7.5 per cent annually.
''With India being identified for its great market potential, more automobile industries from abroad were coming forward to invest in establishing their plants and the Conference would certainly help in attracting more investments and enable our Industries to take advantage,'' Prof Mohan added.
Dr K R Srinivasan, President, Consortium of Electronic Industries of Karnataka (CLIK) said 12 sessions would be held and more than 25 papers by automotive experts from India and abroad would be presented and deliberated upon during the Conference.
