Resentment prevails in district Congress over JMM's action
Jamshedpur, Aug 11 (UNI) Several office-bearers of the East Singhbhum district Congress Commitee have submitted their resignation over the appointment of controversial JMM leader Ram Das Soren as in-charge of Ghatshila Assembly segment for the August 29 Jamshedpur Lok Sabha bypoll.
The appointment of Mr Soren had been opposed by the district Congressmen here. Even state Congress president Pradip Balmuchu expressed dissatifaction over the JMM's decision and asked the party to remove Mr Soren, who contested against him in the last Assembly poll as an Independent.
The matter was pointed out to Chief Minister Madhu Koda, during his visit here on the occasion of the UPA-backed JMM candidate Suman Mahto's filing of nomination papers on August 10. Mr Koda told the mediapersons that the problem would be sorted out after talking to the leaders of the both the parties.
But despite Mr Koda's assurance, nine vice-presidents and eleven general secretaries of the district committee had tendered resignation to Mr Balmuchu through district Congress president Ravinder Kumar Jha last evening.
Mr Jha said the 'Ram Das Soren episode' would be brought to the notice of the in-charge of Jharkhand and the AICC member Begum Noor Bano and other senior Congress leaders, who would take the final decision.
