Flood situation continues on 5th day in Kolhapur

Kolhapur, Aug 11 (UNI) The flood situation in the district remained unchanged on the fifth consecutive day today, even as the rains became active again after a couple of days.

Three villages -- Rajapur, Rajapurwadi and Khidrapur -- in Shirol tehsil of the district remained cut off for the fifth consecutive day today, while road connectivity of 72 villages in the district still remained affected due to flood waters, district collectorate spokesman said today.

About 4,600 cuseces of water was discharged from Radhanagari dam as against 3,200 cuseces yesterday, the spokesman said and added that discharge from Tulsi dam was 1,014 cusecs and from Warna 1,566 cusecs.

The Panchaganga river continues to be in spate and is flowing at a height of 41.11 feet this morning, lower than yesterday's 42.5 feet at Rajaram weir, where danger mark is 43 feet, the spokesman said.

The district has recorded a total rainfall of 262.2 mm during last 24 hours ended this morning. The highest rainfall of 99 mm was recorded in Radhanagari tehsil of the district.
