AP CM to launch Rajiv Swagruha on Aug 24

Hyderabad, Aug 11: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy will launch ''Rajiv Swagruha Housing Scheme'' (meant for middle income group) on August 24 at Pocharam village in Ghatkesar mandal.

Dr Reddy yesterday reviewed the housing scheme for urban poor under JNNURM and ''Rajiv Swagruha'' with Minister for Housing B Satyanarayana and other officials concerned at Secretariat here.

The Chief Minister directed the officials to accord top priority, to providing houses, to those living in thatched houses and on encroached government lands.

He directed the officials to prepare a detailed project report and come up with a programme of action in 15 days, for taking up housing programme (under JNNURM) in a mission mode in the three cities of Hyderabad, Vijayawada and Visakhapatnam.

Under the JNNURM, it was proposed to construct 79,000 houses in the three major cities of Hyderabad, Visakhapatnam and Vijayawada with funds from the Centre and nationalised banks.
