Case booked against Taslima Nasreen

Hyderabad, Aug 11: The city police have registered a case against Bangladeshi writer Taslima Nasreen, who was attacked by the All India Mujlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) MLAs and activists on August 9 based on a complaint from AIMIM floor leader Akbaruddin Owaisi.

The Panjagutta police said a case had been lodged against Ms Nasreen under section 153 (A), dealing with hurting religious sentiments.

Mr Owaisi had preferred a police complaint that Ms Nasreen was hurting the sentiments of Muslims by giving statements against the Holy Quran.

The AIMIM Legislators and activists had attacked the writer at the Press Club here while participating in a book release function.

She immediately left the city in police cordon.
