12 persons fall sick after consuming wild mushrooms

Gangtok, Aug 11 (UNI) Altogether twelve people here have taken ill after they consumed wild mushrooms.

Official sources here today said the people, from Soreng at West Sikkim, had yesterday consumed wild mushrooms found locally.

Later, they developed food poisoning symptoms and were immediately rushed to Soreng hospital for treatment where the doctors referred them to Namchi district hospital at south Sikkim.

However, the condition of the affected persons was stable at present, Mr Suren Mohra, a social worker from Namchi, said.
