TN Gov concerned at terrorists targeting common man
Chennai, Aug 10 (UNI) Tamil Nadu Governor Surjit Singh Barnala today expressed concern on common people being targeted by terrorists to destablise the country and gullible youth falling into the trap of terror outfits.
Addressing a seminar on ''Innovative approaches to peace in a changing global environment: Youth and Human Security'' organised by the Universal Peace Foundation of India here, he said ''we should leave no room for manipulation or brain washing of the youth, which might make them, go astray.'' The Governor said the youth were a reservoir of energy with abundant knowledge and power and if they were brainwashed to fall into the trap of terror outfits, then it would be a heavy loss and burden on the society.
He was, however, happy the foundation had been creating awareness by galvanizing youth force on to the right path. The non-governmental organisations should emulate the foundation and come forward to channelise the youth power in the right direction to foster peace and harmony.
The Governor said the mission to maintain universal peace and safeguard human security could be achieved by empowering the youth.
Exhorting people to dedicate themselves for the cause of peace and promotion of universal brotherhood and harmony, Mr Baranala said the people, especially youth, should come forward to create a harmonious world and join hands to put down the urgly head of terrorism and other disruptive forces, which spoil the spirit of peace and unity.
