Three soldiers wounded in two militant attacks in Kashmir

Srinagar, Aug 10 (UNI) Three soldiers were injured in two militant attacks in the Kashmir valley overnight, a police spokesman said.

The spokesman said militants hurled a hand grenade at the Border Security Force (BSF) at Gulshan Chowk, Bandipora, about 55 km from here at 0915 hours.

It exploded on the roadside causing injuries to one jawan, who has been hospitalised.

Later, security forces arrested one Ghulam Mohiuddin.

However, hundreds of people, mostly women, took to the streets demanding his immediate release.

The demonstrators, who also blocked traffic, claimed that Mohiuddin was innocent.

Militants ambushed a vehicle of 18 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) at Saivan, Kuligam in the frontier district of Kupwara, the spokesman added.

The security forces also retaliated and in the fierce clash two soldiers were injured. However, the ultras managed to escape after the attack.
