The premiere of the film is a part of 'India Now', a three-month long celebration of London's growing relationship with India and exploration of India's culture, and contribution to the lifestyle of London. The premiere of the film will be held today evening as a part of the event 'Film 4 Summer Screen' at Somerset House.

The expected red carpet attendees include Shah Rukh Khan, fashion designer Matthew Williamson, Ex-Indian cricket team captain Sunil Gavaskar, actress Archie Panjabi, film director Asif Kapadia, Laura Parker-Bowles (daughter of Camilla Parker-Bowles), Dr Raj Persaud, film maker Jagmohan Mundra, ex-England cricket team captains Nasser Hussain and Graham Gooch along with Raza Jaffrey from Spooks.

The wax figure was originally unveiled by the star himself in April 2007 and is one of the most popular attractions with the tourists. It was transported to the square today morning to be displayed before a group of ardent fans.

Produced by Aditya Chopra and directed by Shimit Amin, ''Chak De India'' is the comeback story of an aging hockey player Kabir Khan played by Shah Rukh Khan. The film sees Khan starring as coach, fighting his personal demons as he takes a motley group of girls to the pinnacle of world hockey.

Mayor of London Ken Livingstone said, ''We have many wonderful events taking place across London throughout the three months of 'India Now' and the premiere of 'Chak De India' will undoubtedly be one of the biggest and most exciting affairs. It is a great honour for London to host this event for a film, which, like so many other Bollywood blockbusters, will touch the hearts and minds of millions across the world.'' London Unlimited Chief Executive Officer James Bidwell said, ''India is one of the fastest growing markets on the planet and as such it is critical for London to engage with it on all levels.

'India Now' is an amazing festival that will further connect London and its people with India.'' Over 200 of London's cultural organisations and attractions will participate in the 'India Now' celebrations, including a selection of London's most well-known museums and galleries such as the British Museum and V&A. More than 1,500 events will take place, with over one million Londoners expected to participate in the events during the season.

'India Now' will showcase India's cultural contribution to the world, its rich tradition and most importantly celebrate new Indian trends across business, art, films, theater, food, music and fashion.
